We are in relation with the world through food also.
In relation to nature, others, work, our body, our sensations, to the story of mankind...

 

At Casa della Pace we provide vegetarian food purely. We use various cereals and pastas, raw and cooked vegetable, eggs  and cheese, tofu, tempeh, etc, to make our Mediterranean and international dishes - with, organic local wine is also offered.
During the day a variety of teas and fruits are available at any time.

We put attention and great care into our cooking, we pay attention so as to provide balanced, wholesome, tasty meals - and always freshly prepared. ; to the right time of cooking for each food. Frying with oil is minimal.

Whenever we can source it we use only organic food, utilising local farmers' and fair trade products.


We totally avoid food produced by Nestlé, Del Monte, Chiquita, and as far as we know we avoid the use of what has been produced without care for human beings or animals or nature.

Bread is home made using sour dough. A good amount of other things as yoghurt, jams, preserves and muesli are also home made. 

We are happy to provide special diets as necessary.

Ecological products are used for soap and cleansing.

MENUS EXAMPLE:

BREAKFAST:

Green or black tea, coffee, barley coffee, milk, rice milk, fresh fruits, yogurt, muesli, bread, sweet raisin bread, butter, honey, jams, porridge.

MEALS:

Orecchiette (a sort of pasta) with cime di rapa (a typical south Italian green).
Tofu roasted with carrots and spices as cumin, soya souce, garlic.
Raw salads made of grated carrots, green salad, sun flower seeds, apples.
Fresh local chees.
Coffee, fruits.

Another example:

Roasted aubergine dressed with basil, garlic, olive oil.
Risotto with onions and saffron.
Thin omelettes.
Chards and chicory leaves cooked in pan.

Home made musli. Ingr. : Oat, wheat, barley, rye and millet flakes, sun flower, sesame and flax seeds, raisin, a little bit of cane sugar. It is lightly toasted.

Home made bread. Ingr.: Whole and white wheat flour, sesame seeds, whole see salt, sprimg water, sour dough.
 

DINNER:

We often offer a soup: a pamkin soup with a little cumin and ginger in it is one of my favorites, or a potatos soup with rosmary and leeks dressed with miso.
Seasoned pecorino (sheep cheese) and fresh mozzarella. 
Row and cooked vegetables and a dessert complete the evening meal.

We are happy to make cakes for special occasions as birthdays.

P.S.

The personal choices we do on food  produce consequences in ourselves and in the world in various way.

In ourselves: we can make the food the main pleasure, to become dependent on some food as sugar, chocolate, meat, not to have a balanced relation with it, or to see the food in a mental way: I have to eat a certain amount of protein, and vitamine...

In  the world: buying food from huge factories will make them strong and healthy, to buy organic food, fair trade, small farmers, perhaps will not change the world but it will help a little bit to make it happier.
Further more there are the psychological aspects: both in producing and consuming food we can often see a sense of greed, carelessness, dullness, but we can also deal with it with care, love, attention.
There is a close relation between all this, we can't produce or consume food in a really healthy way, that is: not only healthy for the body but for the mind and for everything is implied in its production also, without attention, awareness, sensitivity.
If we see how through every action we are connected to a series of causes and effects, then we can see how we are responsible for the world and for our selves also through food.
